If you have a decent blender, it will do a good job of breaking down the apple. If yours is a little less powerful, peel your apple and blend for a few more minutes in the almond milk to get a smooth consistency.
This is one of those smoothies that tastes like a dessert, but the best part is that it's healthy!
1 apple, peeled and cored, chopped
1/2 banana, frozen
1 cup vanilla almond milk
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp honey (use maple syrup for a vegan version)
4 ice cubes
1) Add apple pieces, banana and almond milk to the blender and blend for 2 minutes until smooth. Continue to blend if it needs more time.
2) Add remaining ingredients and continue to blend. If it is too thick, add a bit of water or almond milk to thin out.
3) Pour into a glass and sprinkle with cinnamon.
